Sentinel

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 23 July 2026

Sentinel is provided by SafeSky SRL, Avenue du Champ de la Bloquerie 42, 1420 Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium, company number BE 0761.852.549 (“SafeSky”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). SafeSky is the controller of the personal data described here unless stated otherwise. Privacy contact: privacy@safesky.app.

What Sentinel does

Sentinel is a situational-awareness aid for drone operations. It retrieves cooperative air traffic around an operation area and can publish an optional Take Off advisory to the SafeSky network. It does not control a drone or provide regulatory flight authorization.

Information we process

Precise location

Sentinel processes precise device or selected-drone location to retrieve nearby cooperative traffic and calculate relative position and alerts. During an active Take Off advisory or monitoring session, location may be processed in the background when the app is closed or not in use. Location is transmitted securely to SafeSky’s services to provide these functions. Location is not used for advertising.

Account and authentication information

If you use an account, we process your email address, Firebase user identifier, authentication status, and sign-in-provider information. If you choose Google or Apple sign-in, that provider may supply a name, profile information, or private relay email address. Apple generally supplies name information only on first authorization.

Take Off advisories

When you activate an advisory, Sentinel sends the operation position, altitude, radius, timestamps, advisory identifier, and optional callsign to SafeSky. This operational information may be visible to SafeSky network participants. Do not enter personal information as a callsign.

Diagnostics, analytics, and device settings

Anonymous diagnostics are disabled by default. If you enable them in Settings, Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics may process app interactions, crash and performance information, device/app identifiers, operating-system information, and technical network information. You can withdraw that choice at any time by disabling anonymous diagnostics. Display, alert, consent, and other preferences are stored locally. The production mobile SafeSky credential is distributed with the app and is not a user secret.

Map and network requests

MapTiler and SafeSky map services receive the technical information needed to return maps, fonts, and aeronautical layers, including IP address, device/network information, requested map area, and zoom level. Firebase Hosting processes ordinary web-request information when you visit these legal and support pages.

Purposes and legal bases

We process information to provide the features you request, including traffic monitoring, alerts, authentication, and optional advisories; to secure and maintain Sentinel and SafeSky; to diagnose reliability problems when you enable diagnostics; to prevent abuse; to meet legal obligations; and to respond to support and privacy requests.

Where the GDPR applies, the legal bases are performance of our agreement with you or steps taken at your request; our legitimate interests in providing a safe, reliable, and secure service; your consent where requested, including for optional diagnostics; and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Providers and recipients

We do not sell personal data or use it for behavioural advertising. A Take Off advisory is intentionally shared with SafeSky network participants as part of the feature.

Retention and international transfers

Your authentication account is retained while it remains active and is deleted when you complete in-app deletion or a verified external deletion request, subject to limited security or legal records that must be retained. Sentinel does not create a separate permanent history of traffic-query locations. Take Off advisories stop refreshing when the operation ends and then expire through SafeSky’s service process.

Optional analytics and crash information is retained according to the configured Firebase retention controls and is deleted or aggregated when it is no longer required for reliability and security. Support correspondence is retained only as long as necessary to resolve the request, establish what action was taken, and meet legal obligations. Local preferences remain until changed, app data is cleared, or Sentinel is removed.

SafeSky is established in Belgium. Some providers, including Google and MapTiler, may process information in the European Economic Area and other countries. Where required, transfers are protected by an adequacy decision, standard contractual clauses, or another lawful transfer mechanism used by the provider.

Security

We use encrypted network connections, access controls, service-provider security features, and secure device storage where appropriate. No internet-connected service can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You can choose whether to enable anonymous diagnostics, stop active monitoring, and deny or revoke notification or location permissions. Sentinel does not request camera or microphone access. Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection.

Delete your account using Settings → Account → Delete account or follow the account-deletion instructions. Send other privacy requests to privacy@safesky.app. We may verify your identity before acting. You may lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority or your local supervisory authority.

Children

Sentinel is intended for adults aged 18 or over and is not directed to children. If we learn that a child has provided personal data, we will take appropriate steps to delete it. A parent or guardian can contact privacy@safesky.app.

Changes

We may update this policy to reflect changes to Sentinel, its services, or applicable law. We will publish the revised date here and provide additional notice where required.
